Hardware Key Support
Introduction
All keys are tested prior to shipment. On occasion a hardware key is defective or fails. Keys are warranted for a period of 1 year. It is important to determine that the key and not the LPT port is bad. In order to determine this please follow the procedure detailed below.
Windows NT Users: Make sure you are logged in as Administrator when installing ICS, I/CV, or Switch. If not, log in as Administrator and re-install the software.
Test the Key
- Verify that the Key is firmly seated on the LPT or USB Port.
- Use the Sentinel program to try to find the key:
- Download the SuperproMedic.exe utility.
- Save this file to a local drive.
- Double click the SuperproMedic.exe file and allow it to unzip the files and install the Sentinel program.
- Once the files are unzipped, run the SuperproMedic program.
- Select local as the key type and let it try to find the key on your parallel or USB port.
Results
The result should be Superpro detected on LPT1 or USB. This means a key was found and it works.
- If the software reports an incorrect codeword, the key may be incorrectly programmed, not programmed, or the codeword is entered incorrectly.
- Open the ICS software and select Help | About and check the registration number.
- If the registration number is Rainbo then the plug is not programmed. Please return it to Metrics Technology for replacement.
- If the registration number is correct, check that the codeword entered is correct and that the -'s are entered as well
If the result is Error , Unit not found the key is either damaged or the LPT or USB port is not working.
- Try installing the software on a different PC with the same key.
- If the software works, then the key is good and the LPT or USB port must be fixed.
- If the software does not work, send the key to Metrics Technology so that we may test and replace the key, if necessary.
