Answers to Questions 1. How can I automatically extract VTH from the measured gate transfer data? The transform editor contains functions that can be applied to the measured data. These functions can be nested to form algorithms to be applied to extract single value parameters. To extract the VTH using the MAX GM method, the user computes the derivative of ID with respect to VG by using the DELTA function. The MAX function computes the maximum GM and a tangent fit is applied at the value on the ID vs. VG curve corresponding to the MAX(GM) position. The Y intercept of the fit is the computed VTH value. 2. How can extract a voltage at exactly 1 mA current from my I-V measurement? The voltage can be extracted using the INTERP function in the transform editor. The function performs a linear interpolation to the data and returns the value closest to the voltage at 1 mA of current. 3. Can my linear curve fit in a numerical transform be displayed on a plot? A vector represents the result of a linear fit in the transform editor. Selecting the variable name used to receive the result of the linear fit can plot this data. Select this variable name in plot setup dialog box for either Y1 or Y2 axis and the line should appear on the plot. 4. Does Metrics ICS support meta file format for plots? Metrics ICS does not currently support Windows Meta file format. Only the standard bitmap format is supported. To obtain plots in different formats, use one of the many commercially available graphic files converters. Many of these programs have built in window capture capabilities and can save the plot in many different files formats. 5. How can I get plots into Word without losing information when I resize the plot? When the plots are clipped to the clipboard and pasted into Word they are formatted as a bitmap. Bitmaps loose information when shrunk to a size smaller than the original. An alternate method is to use the ALT-PrintScrn keyboard combination when the plot window is active. This will copy a snapshot of the plot to the Windows clipboard. You can then use the EDIT/PASTE SPECIAL option in Word and select Picture as the format. This method will give a high quality printed output even after shrinking the image by 30% to 50%. 6. Can Metrics ICS display two overlay plots for device comparison? Metrics ICS has the ability to overlay up to four curves on a single plot. The overlay plot controls are located in the OPTIONS toolbar on each plot window. Use the Memory controls to store a curve in one of the four plot overlay memories. The four overlay buttons will perform an overlay the stored plot in memory onto the current plot window. Please make sure that all of the plots use the same scale.
